Last year, Beth Cameron, Idaho State Prayer Coordinator and the Idaho West Area Team President, used an idea with the local Lighthouse that came from Kristen Cummins, VP of Financial Development on the CA Southwest Area Team. Darcy Schumacher, VP of Public Relations on the Nevada North/California High Sierra Area Team told Beth that Headquarters would want to turn this into a story for the web so others could use the idea. Don’t you love how connected Aglow groups are?
Beth said, “Our plan was to have a time of ministry for everyone and that each person would have the opportunity to be a minister of God’s Grace.”
Each person chose a card. On the card were questions or a thought that came out of one of Janes’ devotional books, He Calls You the Beloved, volume I or II. The back of the card told which volume it came from. As each person read their card out loud, they then shared their response with the group.
Beth said, “The results were amazing. Everyone received prayer. For some, the prayer was healing, others confirmation, and others, hope.”
Be brave and try something new in your Lighthouse meetings rather than have a speaker each month. Use a Fireside Chat. Get Jane’s devotional books and make your own cards to use. When you take the time to do something different, it promotes relationship amongst the group. They get to know each other as they hear both the question and the answer. It reveals heart and opens the way for people to be known, to see their passions, and to find their strengths and weaknesses. Then God will touch each person and no one will ever be the same!
